Overview

LOS CAMINANTES is a documentary about one of the most significant migration movements in recent Latin American history, thousands of Venezuelans leaving their country and crossing borders on foot in search of a new beginning.

Broadcast on Nat Geo Mundo during Hispanic Heritage Week, the documentary brings the story closer to the people behind the journey, their decisions, sacrifices, uncertainty and resilience. For its launch, the project focused on creating a social media campaign capable of extending that story beyond the documentary itself.

The Challenge

When a story involves thousands of people, it can easily become a statistic. The challenge was to communicate the scale of Venezuelan migration without losing sight of the individual experiences behind it, and without turning hardship into a visual spectacle. The campaign needed to create awareness and anticipation around the documentary while treating its subject with sensitivity, dignity and emotional depth.

The Solution

We used storytelling as the central creative strategy. Instead of communicating the documentary only through promotional messages, the social media pieces unfolded fragments of the journey, the distances traveled, the conditions faced, the decisions left behind and the human stories behind the word “migration.” Visuals, copy and narrative worked together to create a campaign that invited the audience to stop, understand and ultimately watch. The result was communication designed not simply to promote a premiere, but to give context and visibility to the people at the center of the story.
